About Me
I am a fully qualified, UKCP registered psychotherapist. With a wealth of experience, I have been dedicated to helping individuals navigate life's complexities and improve their relationships with themselves and others.
Before training to become a psychotherapist, I spent over a decade working with people struggling with addiction issues. Following this, I completed law school and worked in the legal field bringing cases where civil and human rights had been breached. As a result of my own experiences of life, death and loss, I sought psychotherapy for myself. The benefits I felt from therapy, plus a keen interest of looking within, led me to train as a psychotherapist. I believe my experience of sitting in the client's chair helps me to be a more compassionate therapist.
My training includes a Masters in Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy at Bath Centre for Psychotherapy and Counselling (BCPC). I also spent two years working at the Swan Project in Bristol, which is a charitable organisation that offers psychotherapy and counselling to people who would like to change their relationship with alcohol and other substances. With the desire, I believe every individual has the ability to reach their potential, if they are provided with the right therapeutic environment.
I try to uphold the same values and principles both in my personal life and in the therapuetic space. I enjoy practicing yoga, meditation, and love to learn, whether it’s playing the piano, studying Spanish, or exploring dance. On a personal note, I am married and have three children.
"We cannot selectively numb emotions, when we numb the painful emotions, we also numb the positive emotions"
- Brené Brown
My Passion
My passion is helping individuals deepen their understanding of their inner world and enhancing awareness of how they navigate and nurture their relationships. I provide a welcoming and compassionate space where you can take time to express yourself and be heard with warmth and acceptence. I work in an integrative way, which means I draw on a range of therapeutic theories and models, including psychoanalytic, humanistic and existential perspectives. There is not a 'one size fits all' with therapy. Every person is unique and may need a different approach at different times.
Professional Membership and Codes of Ethics
I am registered with UKCP and abide by their Code of Ethics and Good Practice.
My training organisation, Bath Centre for Psychotherapy and Counselling (BCPC), have a Code of Practice and Ethics, Confidentiality Policy and supervision requirements to which I adhere.
I comply with the General Data Protection Regulations which came in to force in May 2018.
